As a long-term product development partner, Timberline worked closely with Bodelin to develop a new product to bring the portable microscope to the mobile device market.

What We Did

Timberline engineers provided complete mechanical and optical design for the cutting-edge MicroMobile microscope. The new product design included a common microscope with interchangeable sleeves to mount all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and selected Android devices. It also included proprietary electronics, interchangeable optics, and a rechargeable battery.

In addition to mechanical and optical design, Timberline created the injection mold design that would prep the MicroMobile for production. Timberline also assisted with vendor selection and qualification and provided engineering support and validation testing during tooling development. Thanks to Timberline's experienced project management resources, we seamlessly guided the product from initial concept to production.

The Result:

The Bodelin ProScope MicroMobile was successfully launched and is now available for use with six different mobile platforms, making it one of the industry’s most easily accessible portable microscopes.

What It Is:

The Hudl remote is a handheld remote used by athletic coaches and athletes to review performance tape. The remotes can be paired to almost any device using a Bluetooth connection. Once connected, coaches can access their own library of footage, provide feedback, and share the marked footage with team members and coaching staff.

How it Works:

The bluetooth remotes are completely wireless, meaning coaches no longer need to be next to a computer to control the action. Once the remote has been paired with a device, coaches can take advantage of a variety of functional operations, from laser pointer to tagging and skipping between clips.

What Timberline Did:

The most important functional requirement for the new generation of remotes was adding a USB connection and charging so coaches would no longer need to be next to a computer to review footage with their teams. This, paired with additional WiFi capabilities and bluetooth connection added a massive amount of flexibility for how the remotes could be used. Laser pointer capabilities were also implemented.

The Hudl remote project included industrial design of the handheld remote, mechanical design, and full electronics integration. In addition, Timberline worked closely with Hudl and its manufacturer partner on tooling design and development.

The Result:

Today, the new Hudl remotes are used around the world for athletes at all levels, offering a high-tech solution for today’s modern athlete.
